“Kumho” translates into “bright lake” in Korean, and Kumho tires have certainly become a shining example of tire quality since the company was founded in 1980. Now one of the top 10 tire manufacturers in the world, Kumho tires have been the original equipment of choice for a number premier auto manufacturers, including Chrysler, Ford, Hyundai, Kia, Mitsubishi, Volkswagen, and others. Kumho is also the manufacturer of all Marshal brand tires.
Kumho Tire Warranty
Kumho Tire U.S.A., Inc provides warranties on all its replacement radial tires. If your Kumho tire unserviceable for any reason within the manufacturer's control, will be replaced with an equivalent Kumho tire under the following guidelines:
During the first 2/32" of the original usable tread, Kumho will replace such tire with a comparable new Kumho or Marshal tire free of charge. Applicable taxes on the new tire and costs of mounting and balancing service are payable by the owner.
After the first 2/32" of the original usable tread, a credit will be given toward the purchase of a comparable new Kumho or Marshal tire to the original usable tread of the new tire. Applicable taxes on the new tire and costs of mounting and balancing service are payable by the owner.
Kumho tires are also covered against ozone cracking and weather cracking for four (4) years from the date of manufacture.
Kumho Tire Technologies
Safety and control are two hallmarks of Kumho tires. The manufacturer has made truly innovative strides in sidewall construction and rubber composition to give their tire a unique, sturdy quality. If you’re looking for a safe bet on tires, Kumho should be on your radar.
ESCOT Technology – Kumho’s ESCOT technology increases the marks of nearly all ride characteristics for all the tires that have it. By using a proprietary construction, ESCOT technology reduces tire flexibility (a good safety feature if the tire becomes underinflated) and operating temperatures. The Road Venture KL78 light truck and SUV uses ESCOT technology to maximize tire performance both on road and off.
Cornering Lag Technology (CLT) – The control and quality of tires using Kumho’s CLT technology make them good OE tire replacements, even for luxury vehicles. CLT actually reduces time from when the steering wheel is turned to when the vehicle reacts. The Solus KH16 touring tire uses CLT to maximize its handling performance.
eXtended Run Flat Performance (XRP technology) – XRP minimizes the danger of punctures by using a reinforced sidewall to lower tire deformation and structural tension when air pressure is lost. The Ecsta SPTultra high performance tire uses XRP alongside a special rubber compound to make it one of Kumho’s safest models.
